Bird Watching Takes Comedy (And the World) By Storm

May 16, 2009 | 1

Recently a bunch of old comedy sketches that poke fun at bird watching have resurfaced on TV and the Web. They are worth another look.

First, Jon Stewart & Steve Carell poke fun at the 2000 World Series of Birding:

And then, Conan O’Brien re-runs a hilarious caricature of our beloved sport that he taped in 2005.

Gee, what other big news surfaced in 2005 that would have made birders a new and delicious target?

If the longevity of these popular sketches, which reach a huge audience of non-birders, are a barometer, I think we’re arriving at a higher consciousness of birds and nature!
