I and the Bird #100: My Hybrid Post Wins Exclusive Multitudinous Award!

May 14, 2009 | 1

Began by the noble cavaliers over at 10000birds.com, I and the Bird is the longest running nature blog carnival and celebrates the “interaction of human and avian, an ongoing exploration of the endless fascination with birdlife all around the world. It is also a biweekly showcase of the best bird writing on the web published on alternating Thursdays.” Head over to Nature Blog Network if you’re asking: What is a blog carnival?

I and the Bird reached its century-edition milestone today and in its unique, quirky fashion held an extravagant black-tie ceremony for The Nature Blog Network Awards for Outstanding Achievement in the Field of Excellence.

My literary masterpiece, er, um, blog post entitled: A Birder’s Tale: Spotting a Tricky Rare Hybrid took honors in the category for Bird Least Likely To Reproduce.

Of course, I thought it said “Blog Least Likely To Reproduce”  and wondered if I’d entered my piece into the Razzies

But alas, one caffeine injected-closer look later I realized that my post was an exclusive winner among scores of other bloggers who excel at the art of outstanding excellence in writing about natur-ious magnificence. I was in good company, indeed.

The host of the event was Nathan Swick, illustrious blogger behind The Drinking Bird who musta been high on spring migration during taping. Excellent work, Nate. I hear your chuckles from way over here…and they’re contagious. And thanks to Mike Bergin and his compadres at 10000birds for their maverick accomplishments in the field of nature blogging.

Me and my taffeta dress are going to shimmy off stage now…and hope for no wardrobe malfunctions.

To “watch” the awards, go to: The Nature Blog Network Awards for Outstanding Achievement in the Field of Excellence.
