Rochester Birding Association Digital Birding App Presentation

Thanks to all the local Rochesterians who came out to Brighton Town Hall to hear me wax on about technology and mobile birding applications last night.

A decent-sized crowd listened to my evangelical ravings about smartphone technology as it applies to the pursuit of birding. Toward the end, things got a little crazy when I gave away redeem codes for digital field guides (thanks to the makers of Audubon Guides, Sibley eGuide, and BirdsEye for their donations). No limbs were lost, no eyes were gouged, but I felt a collective acid reflux in the crowd as the numbers were called. There seemed to be a lot of enthusiasm and interest in the subject even for people who are “not quite there yet.”

Considering I hadn’t been in front of a crowd in more than seven years, it went well and I had a great time.  I’m on a personal mission, it seems, to digitally unconstipate the masses. More on that in a future post.
