Nature & Birding Travel

As a travel writer and advocate for sustainable nature tourism, I report on eco-friendly bird and nature destinations in the U.S. and worldwide.  Contact me if you would like my help in promoting your destination to bird watchers and nature buffs.

While focusing on what a site offers bird watchers and nature buffs, I research a destination’s ecological significance, what specialties it holds, and why it should appeal to nature enthusiasts. My travel articles are published on my Travel & Birding Blog but have also appeared on travel websites and magazines.

My birding travels have taken me to spectacular places in the U.S. and beyond, including the Adirondack Mountains of New York, the state parks of Texas, the High Andes of Ecuador (with Nikon’s Birding Adventures TV), the Very Dry Forest of Honduras, and the manikin leks of Belize.

Most recently, my family and I toured subalpine meadows by horseback in Yellowstone National Park (shown below with Wilderness Pack Outfitters in Montana). We also explored alpine lakes in the Bridger Mountains of Montana and admired ancient petroglyphs and dinosaur excavations in and around Thermopolis, Wyoming.

I help promote birding travel in many ways, but none so enjoyably as in my role as Marketing & Destinations Director for Nikon’s Birding Adventures TV. I mostly work behind the desk, dealing with representatives from birding destinations that wish to be featured on the show. But in 2011, I was lucky enough to travel with the crew to bird the High Andes and mid-level slopes of Ecuador.
