About Laura Kammermeier

Laura Kammermeier is a Swiss Army Knife of knowledge, experience, and skills when it comes to work that connects people and promotes good ideas or great places. She is a writer, connector, marketer, birding travel specialist, conservationist, citizen science ambassador, web producer, and social media coach, not to mention wife, mother, true friend, and hapless American Idol fan!
Laura has applied herself to a wide array of work—from environmental consulting to citizen science program management, to web consulting for organizations ranging from national media to small local conservation groups. Her ability to communicate effectively and to bring together disparate minds and voices to work toward a common goal is her greatest strength.
An early adopter of the World Wide Web and its many advantages, Laura is respected for her ability to mentor companies, organizations, events, and individuals looking to become more web-and social-networking savvy. Her thorough understanding of what works online, combined with excellent communications skills and a passion for technology, have made Laura a highly sought web consultant.
Laura thrives on creative partnerships between clients, programmers, and graphic designers and helps her clients produce content-driven, user-friendly web sites that promote their unique message and style. She brings to the equation the strategic focus required to craft an online presence and the vision necessary to build “something out of nothing.”
Birds and nature are at the center of much of her work, but she also works for small businesses. Laura is an avid birder, traveler, photographer, and an oft-published writer with credits in magazines, newspapers, and online publications.
Her latest writing endeavors have focused on birding and nature travel and, not surprisingly, birding technology. In addition to upcoming pieces on mobile applications for nature and birding in iPhone Life and Birding, the flagship magazine of the American Birding Association, she’s published in Bird Watcher’s Digest, Birder’s World, Rochester City Newspaper, Away.com travel website, among other places.
Laura Kammermeier holds a B.S. in biology and an M.S. in aquatic ecology from Kent State University. In addition to being the former project leader for Project FeederWatch at Cornell Lab of Ornithology, she has worked for Florida LakeWatch, Cuyahoga Valley National Park Association, Chagrin River Land Conservancy, and Bird Watcher’s Digest magazine. She launched her freelance writing and web consulting business in 2004.
