| Our mission was simple: craft a sexy, eye-catching site that gets visitors where they are going fast, then add video, stunning photos, and social media. We customized the framework and functionality around the client’s top-notch content, so the pages are filled with sharp photography, videos, and tour descriptions as well as awesome tables, maps, forms, and graphics. The result is a sophisticated, Web 2.0-friendly WordPress implementation that stretches the limits of what WP can do as a content management system. This was a fantastic collaboration between my web team (Katherine Koch, lead designer and Bill Klingensmith, Rob Mauer, and Sean Koch) and the owners of Tropical Birding (a birding tour company based in Quito, Ecuador). This site prompted Chris Pearson, creator of the Thesis theme, to say, "This is one of the most extensive and awesome modifications of Thesis I've ever seen!" | My client's HTML-based website was in sore need of an upgrade. Taking into consideration their goals and needs, I analyzed SWD's content and developed a new site map and plotted several calls to action. Then, in collaboration with designer Bill Klingensmith, built a new Wordpress wireframe, customized the graphics, added new and old content, created a photo gallery, and developed several forms (membership, donation, and contact us). One of the highlights of this project was the installation of a shopping cart, tied to Paypal, where visitors can buy T-shirst, photos, and more to help support the nonprofit. It was great to see the forms put to good use so quickly: several memberships and donations came in the first day the site went live. | y client’s objective was to more accurately portray its mission and scope and to make its website a better platform to inform, educate, and engage the public and their partners on invasives. I migrated information from an existing website over to a new one, created an entirely new web site with a novel URL and better site map, with enhanced design, content, navigation, and functionality. |
